Mother, May I Sleep With Danger? awakens.

To mark the upcoming 20th anniversary of the famously and awfully titled TV-movie that starred Tori Spelling as a teen with questionable taste in boyfriends, Lifetime is developing a remake, it was announced Monday.

“[This] retelling of the cult classic from Sony Pictures Television will pay homage to the original film that continues to resonate in pop culture today,” reads the press release from Lifetime/Sony.

Fun fact No. 1. That ever-industrious Swiss Army Knife known as James Franco is shepherding the project and serving as Executive Producer.

Fun fact No. 2: Per Vulture, which first reported on the remake, Spelling may again appear on-screen — likely as the mother (played in the 1996 original by Lisa Banes).

Would you tune in for fresh Danger? And who would you cast to succeed Spelling and Ivan Sergei as the young lovebirds?
