Mongrel Boards Laura Dern-Starrer ‘The Tale'; Camera d’Or Jury Set – Cannes Briefs

Mongrel International has boarded sales on Blackbird Film’s The Tale, written and directed by Beirut: The Last Home Movie’s Jennifer Fox. Laura Dern, Ellen Burstyn, Sebastian Koch and Elizabeth Debicki star in the drama that begins principal photography this summer. It’s produced by Lawrence Inglee and Oren Moverman (The Messenger, Rampart), along with Fox. The story sees Jennifer, a globetrotting journalist living in New York City, who effortlessly balances work and life with her German boyfriend until the day her mother finds a ‘story’ she wrote at age 13, describing a sexual triangle with two adult coaches. When Jennifer reads the pages from her past, the details are different than her recollection and she decides to track down the men and everyone else connected to “The Tale” with shocking results.
