'Modern Family' Sneak Peek: Jay Is the (Older, Better) George Clooney of Commercials

Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill) is sure you’ll love his closets. But his commercial for his closets? Well, let’s just say it probably won’t be winning a Clio anytime soon.

In this exclusive sneak peek of the upcoming Modern Family episode “Closet? You’ll Love It!,” the Pritchett patriarch is having trouble delivering his line (yes, one line) in a commercial for his company, Pritchett’s Closets & Blinds. Jay’s acting is so bad that the director (Michael Bunin) tries to persuade him to try to be “lighter,” “happier,” and “warmer” (clearly, he doesn’t know Jay very well), but a retake produces the same confusing result.

Enter marketing guy Ben (Joe Mande), who tells co-worker Claire (Julie Bowen) that it would be better for the company if she tells her dad he’s no George Clooney. We’ll have to wait and see if Claire pulls a Donald Trump and actually tells her pop he’s fired, but she definitely has some choice words for Ben for making her do the dirty work.

Check out the above clip to see how the hilarious exchange plays out, and tune in to Modern Family to find out if Jay’s scene ends up on the cutting-room floor.

Modern Family airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
