‘GMA’ Forces Michael Strahan to Drop Endorsement Deals
Michael Strahan‘s “Good Morning America” gig will force him to step away from lucrative endorsement deals, TheWrap has confirmed.
An ABC News spokesman said the company bans its employees from pitching products, and the former NFL player is no exception, meaning he’ll have to walk away from deals with Subway, Pizza Hut, Metamucil, Snickers, Dr. Pepper and Right Guard when the current contracts expire.
“Michael’s endorsements are set to expire in the next few months and won’t be renewed. His clothing line [with J.C. Penney] will continue, and he’s held to the same disclosure standard as anyone else at ABC News,” the network said in a statement to the New York Post.

Strahan recently left “Live with Kelly and Michael,” which does not fall under ABC News like “GMA,” which blocks employees from endorsing products to avoid potential conflicts of interest.
Strahan shocked the TV world earlier this year when it was announced he would leave “Live” for a more prominent role on “GMA.” Ripa was reportedly upset about the situation and skipped a fews shows until things were worked out behind the scenes.

“Live” is currently using a variety of guest co-hosts as they search for a full-time replacement.
