Michael Shannon Takes a Break From Dramatic Acting to ‘Lip Sync Battle’ (Video)

Michael Shannon was probably the last entertainer Spike TV audiences ever expected to “Lip Sync Battle,” but here he is.

On Thursday, the actor famous for dramatic roles in films including “Take Shelter,” “99 Homes” and “Midnight Special” will face off against “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” star Rachel Bloom. Shannon will perform The Pixies’ 1989 song “Here Comes Your Man.”

While “Lip Sync Battle” has been known for its outrageous performances, namely Channing Tatum‘s or Dwayne Johnson‘s, Shannon’s seems to be a little on the calmer side.

“Lip Sync Battle” is executive produced by Casey Patterson, Jay Peterson of Matador Content, John Krasinski, Stephen Merchant, and Eight Million Plus Productions. The “Tonight Show” spinoff series is hosted by LL Cool J; Chrissy Teigen DJs the party.

Shannon’s performance airs Thursday at 10 p.m. on Spike.
