Michael Phelps Shuts Down Reporter at Arizona Airport

Michael Phelps arrived home from Rio on Wednesday morning and was, not surprisingly, greeted by the media. A reporter from Good Morning Arizona was on hand at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix when Phelps touched down and said he was just there to congratulate the Olympian. But, of course, the urge to ask questions was just too great.

As soon as Phelps passed, the reporter quickly spouted out, “Mike, how does it feel to touch back, though? Does it feel good? What’s the first thing you’re gonna do?”

The reporter followed as Phelps continued to walk away, along with his fiancée and baby. He said he wasn’t not going to answer any questions and asked for space. Phelps also referred the reporter and the rest of the media to his agency for any interviews. Finally he stopped, allowing his family to get a little distance from the cameras. He said he appreciated the media coming out but reiterated that he just wanted to get his family home safely. Then the swimming superstar thanked the reporters for their understanding before walking away.
