Michael Malarkey Joins ‘The Vampire Diaries’, Madeline Brewer In ‘Hemlock Grove’

EXCLUSIVE: The CW and Netflix have cast two of their breakout actors in new roles. The CW is bringing back Michael Malarkey. After casting the young actor as the male lead Prince Maxon in the second Selection pilot this past season, the network has tapped him for a major recurring role on veteran drama The Vampire Diaries. He will play Enzo, a charismatic but tortured figure from Damon’s past who arrives in Mystic Falls desperate to reconnect with his old friend. His first episode airs December 5. American-born and -raised Malarkey, repped by Silver Lining Entertainment and UK’s Hatton Mcewan Penford, studied at London’s LAMDA and has been working in the UK since.

Similarly, Netflix has cast Madeline Brewer in Season 2 of Hemlock Grove following her memorable turn on the first season of the streaming service’s dark comedy Orange Is The New Black. On Hemlock Grove, from Gaumont International TV, Brewer will recur as a graphic novelist entering the town. She is repped by Judy Boals Talent and Literary, Inphenate, and Schreck Dapello.
