Megyn Kelly’s Memoir: 7 Eye-Openers From ‘Settle For More’

Megyn Kelly’s highly anticipated memoir, “Settle for More,” has finally hit newsstands, and with it come various revelations regarding Roger Ailes and Donald Trump.

Kelly appeared on “Good Morning America” Tuesday morning to discuss her new book, “Settle for More,” and said that former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes “tried to kiss” her three times against her will.

“I wrestled with what to, because I wasn’t sure what the truth was about Roger,” Kelly told George Stephanopoulos. “I knew my own experience, but he and I had gone on to have nine years of a healthy, working relationship.”

Her book also discloses various other altercations between her and Trump, including offers of gifts and threats of vengeance.

Trump and Kelly’s feud dates back to a GOP primary debate last year, during which Kelly listed a number of derogatory terms the business mogul had used for women, including “fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals.” Trump went on the attack soon after, slamming Kelly on Twitter and later telling CNN’s Don Lemon that the Fox News host had “blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever,” a comment that many interpreted as a reference to menstruation.

See seven revelations from Kelly’s book below.

1. She received death threats after first GOP debate

According to Yahoo, Kelly says she received death threats as a result of the debate imbroglio with Trump. Following his “blood” comment, Kelly wrote, “It was like he flipped a switch, instantly causing a flood of intense nastiness.” She added that she had to take an armed guard on her family trip to Walt Disney World.

2. Trump lambasted her for her show’s coverage

In August of last year, “The Kelly File” reported on a Daily Beast story concerning the divorce between Donald Trump and ex-wife Ivana, who is quoted in testimony cited by the article as having been raped by the businessman. Trump demanded an audience with Kelly, who told him she doesn’t “control the editorial content” of her show, to which he replied, “You’re a disgrace! You should be ashamed of yourself. You should be ashamed of yourself!”

3. Trump offered her and other journalists gifts

“This is actually one of the untold stories of the 2016 campaign,” she wrote, according to The New York Times’ review of the book. “I was not the only journalist to whom Trump offered gifts clearly meant to shape coverage. Many reporters have told me that Trump worked hard to offer them something fabulous — from hotel rooms to rides on his 757.”

4. Trump was leaked at least one debate question

“The day before the [Aug. 6] debate, Trump called [Fox News executive in charge of the event] Bill Sammon, clearly anxious about the debate and me in particular. He said he had ‘heard’ that my first question was a very pointed question directed at him. How could he have known that? I wondered.”

5. Kelly faced post-debate slur storm

After the debate, Kelly returned to work after he vacation to a string of voicemails in which she was being called a “c—,” “b—-,” and a “f—ing whore.”

6. Kelly’s daughter feared Trump wanted to hurt her

On Good Morning America, Kelly talked about the part of her memoir in which she explains that her daughter Yardley said, “I’m afraid of Donald Trump. He wants to hurt me.” Kelly said this wasn’t true, to which her daughter replied, “Well, he wants to hurt you, so he wants to hurt me too,” Kelly wrote.

7. Trump threatened to unleash his “beautiful Twitter account” against Kelly

According to the Times review, Kelly had just done a segment on her show that didn’t sit well with Trump. So he threatened to no-show his scheduled appearance unless she called him. “I almost unleashed my beautiful Twitter account against you,” she says he told her, “and I still may.”
