Who Is Meghan Markle? 8 Things to Know About the 'Suits' Star Dating Prince Harry
Soon to be Princess Meghan? Meghan Markle became a household name overnight when news of her secret romance with Prince Harry went public in late October. Here, Us Weekly Video rounds up eight things to know about the Suits star!
First things first, the actress goes by her middle name professionally. Her first name is actually Rachel — the same as her Suits character. Markle grew up in California and got a taste of Hollywood at a young age since her father was the director of photography and lighting on the popular sitcom Married … With Children.
Markle, 35, started her acting career back in 2002 with a small role on General Hospital and went on to make cameos in movies such as Get Him to the Greek. To make ends meet, the brunette beauty worked as a calligrapher in her spare time — even addressing Robin Thicke and Paula Patton’s wedding invites and Dolce & Gabbana’s holiday letters.
“I could either wait tables or use a skill I had that I could do on my own time,” she told Fashion Magazine in 2014.
In 2011, she got a big break when she landed her role as an ambitious paralegal on Suits. The actress now lives in Toronto to film the USA Network legal drama, which also stars Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht.
Since she’s been dating the British royal, the duo have been taking frequent trips between Toronto and London to make their long-distance relationship work. Harry spent Halloween in Canada, cooking and hanging out at Markle’s home, and the philanthropist flew to the U.K. to visit her beau at his Nottingham Cottage home at Kensington Palace just two weeks later.
