‘Matilda the Musical’ Rewritten as ‘Donald the Musical’ on ‘The Late Late Show’

Tim Minchin, Abigail Spencer, and Ben Platt joined James Corden on The Late Late Show for a performance of “When I Grow Up” from Matilda the Musical. Although instead of playing the roles of Matilda and her friends, Tim, Abigail, Ben, and James played Donald Trump, Kellyanne Conway, Sean Spicer, and Steve Bannon.

They each took turns singing about what they would be when they grew up. James, as Steve Bannon, sang, “When I grow up I will be chief strategist, so I can put my Breitbart fist inside my puppet’s inside bits.”

Tim Minchin, who wrote Matilda the Musical and played Trump in Donald the Musical, sang about becoming president and building walls. Abigail, as Kellyanne Conway, sang, “When I grow up, if the facts don’t suit my narratives I’ll just believe alternatives, ’cause otherwise my brain will blow up.”

Only time will tell if Donald the Musical will make the Tony Awards great again.

‘The Late Late Show With James Corden’ airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. on CBS.
