Mariah Carey delivers another cringeworthy performance

VH1’s Hip Hop Honors: The 90’s Game Changers brought a lot of nostalgia to Los Angeles to celebrate the decade responsible for making the hip-hop genre the success that it is today. However, among the great honors, tributes, and performances was one very awkward performance by the legendary Mariah Carey. Unfortunately, the singer, who was once the biggest-selling artist of the ’90s, is now notorious for her motionless performances. Her Hip Hop Honors routine was no exception: It was just as cringeworthy as the last.

The best part of her “Honey” performance was the fact that despite her inability to walk a couple feet on her own, VH1 still wanted us to believe that a woman rappelling down the side of a building was the real Mariah Carey.

You can’t fool us, VH1.

We’re not exaggerating when we say that the real Mariah couldn’t make any movements without being assisted by two of her backup dancers. After all of her standing, Mariah needed to take a break. So she sat down for a minute on a golden Jet Ski and then took a ride in a golden helicopter.

If you’re thinking, “Wow, that performance was straight-up uncomfortable to watch,” well, you’re not the only one. One Twitter user wrote:

And quite possibly the best tweet was this one comparing Mariah to a lazy dog.

Hip Hop Honors: The 90’s Game Changers aired Monday, Sept. 18, on VH1.
