Lisa Lynn Masters Dies: ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ Actress Was 52

Lisa Lynn Masters, who guest-starred in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and also had roles on Gossip Girl and Ugly Betty, has died while traveling in Peru. She was 52. Her rep confirmed her death to Deadline, but no details were provided.

Masters was born in Omaha, NE, and grew up in Asheville, NC. She began her career as a broadcast news reporter before moving into acting, according to her bio on IMDb. During the course of her career she appeared in dozens of TV commercials and in features, including 2004’s The Stepford Wives and indie Blumenthal.

She also appeared in several TV series including a starring role as Dr. Goodman in a 2015 episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. She also guest-starred on Law & Order: Criminal Intent and SVU, Royal Pains, Ugly Betty, Gossip Girl and most recently Nashville. Masters also appeared in the off-Broadway comedy All in the Timing: The Universal Language, produced at the Connely Theater as a benefit for the victims of 9/11.
