Lucifer Adds Aimee Garcia for Season 2

Hell, yeah — Lucifer has added Dexter alumna Aimee Garcia to its Season 2 cast.

The actress — whose other credits include The George Lopez Show and Rush Hour — will play the series-regular role of the L.A.P.D.’s new forensic scientist, Ella Lopez. The character is described by Fox as “a bit of a walking contradiction. She’s brainy but spiritual. Warm but tough. She grew up in a pretty rough neighborhood in Detroit, but also in a strong Catholic family, under the watchful and protective eye of her five brothers… which might explain some of her opposing personality traits.”

The duality of Ella’s personality will also intrigue the retired Lord of Hell. “Her mutual belief in both faith and science,” the network says, “proves a point of interest to Lucifer — and the rest of the department — as they get to know and love her quirky ways.”

Garcia’s hiring comes on the heels of news that Tricia Helfer will appear as Lucifer’s mother during the series’ sophomore season (which kicks off Sept. 19).
