‘Life in Pieces’ First Look: Molly Shannon Cooks Up an Awkward Valentine’s Day
“No traffic, no going to the wrong restaurant, no bathroom accidents in traffic on the way to the wrong restaurant …” That’s Greg’s plan for a romantic backyard Valentine’s Day celebration with wife Jen, designed specifically to break the streak of “horrible” Cupid day celebrations of years past.
And all is promising in the exclusive preview clip above from Thursday’s new Life in Pieces, as Greg leads Jen to a beautifully set table — flowers, candlelight — in the yard that has been strung with lights. And then the private chef he’s hired for the evening introduces herself.
Saturday Night Live alum and Divorce co-star Molly Shannon is Chef Allie, who makes things a little weird right away when she comments on Jen’s body, calling it “so tight.” And when the topic of children comes up, Chef Allie tells them about her kid… who’s in the care of the state.
Elsewhere in the “Chef Rescue Negotiator Necklace” episode of the CBS comedy, a pair of familiar faces from The Office also guest star. Angela Kinsey plays Ruth, an animal advocate who gives Matt and Colleen a hard time when they’re trying to adopt a dog, while Leslie David Baker is Gavin, a car dealership who owner who crosses paths with classic car buyers Joan and John. And in Tim and Heather’s household, someone gets a lovely necklace for Valentine’s Day… young Sophia, whose gift from a boy does not please protective dad Tim.
