Lee Daniels’ ‘Star’ Casts Sharlene Taule & Caroline Vreeland As Recurring

Sharlene Taule (Grachi) and Caroline Vreeland (Diary) have landed recurring roles opposite Queen Latifah in new Fox series Star, created/executive produced by Lee Daniels and Tom Donaghy.

Set in Atlanta, Star revolves around three talented young singers (Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady) who navigate the cutthroat music business on their road to success.

Taule will play Eva, a beautiful young Dominican girl whom Jahil saves from trouble. Once Eva emerges from her shell, she befriends Star and the other girls. When secrets from her past begin to rise up, Jahil finds he has more on his hands than he’d originally thought.

Vreeland will play Mary Davis, the mother of Star and Simone, who died when the girls were little. The girls inherited their incredible music talent from their mother. But Mary wasn’t strong enough to handle the small taste of fame she experienced with her best friend Carlotta (Queen Latifah). Addiction got the best of her. Mary will appear in the series in flashbacks, sometimes haunting the girls, sometimes lifting them up. Star and Simone must come to terms with her complicated legacy if they’re going to achieve their dreams.

Taule, a rising music star in Latin America, was also a series regular on the Nickelodeon Latin America series Grachi. She’s repped by Don Buchwald & Associates, DePaz Management and Jackoway, Tyerman. Vreeland is repped by Next Management, Next Models, and Wolf, Rifkin, Shapiro & Shulman.
