Laurie Hernandez Gets First Perfect Score of ‘DWTS’ This Season

Monday’s Dancing With the Stars was a collaboration with Cirque du Soleil, and gymnast Laurie Hernandez was tasked with dancing to Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel.” Trying to fill the shoes of the King of Pop is a tough feat, but it was made harder by Hernandez’s busy schedule. She had a limited time to rehearse, so she had to learn the steps from videos sent to her by her dance partner, Val Chmerkovskiy.

Despite the setback, Hernandez stunned the crowd and the judges with her routine. Julianne Hough said, “I literally have nothing to say other than Michael Jackson may be the King of Pop, but you are the queen of the ballroom.”

The judges each gave Hernandez a perfect score of 10, which was the first perfect score of the season.
