Lifetime is close to a series order based on Celebrity Sellouts, a series based on Lance Bass’ charitable initiative Famous Yard Sale.
The series will follow A-list celebrities as they part with memorabilia, costumes, furniture and general detritus from a life in the spotlight. The project is from Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley’s DiGaVision and Brent Montgomery’s Leftfield Pictures with DiSanto, Gateley, Montgomery and Bass as executive producers. Another working title for the show is Celebrity Yard Sale.
A host and list of celebrities participating have yet to be finalized, though Bass has thrown his hat in the ring for the former.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter this year, Gateley described the show as a cross between MTV’s Cribs (which showcased the homes of the rich and famous) and History’s Pawn Stars, which is produced by Montgomery.
Celebrity Sellouts is the second project for DiGa at Lifetime. The company -- headed by the former MTV execs -- is also in production on My Life as a Lifetime Movie, which takes a page from the newsmagazine format in offering an irreverent look at real women whose lives could be a blueprint for Lifetime’s signature maudlin TV movies.
