Kyra Sedgwick on When She Learned Husband Kevin Bacon Is Her Cousin: ‘Most White People Are Related’

Kyra Sedgwick has fewer degrees of separation to Kevin Bacon than she, perhaps, might want.

Sedgwick took part in a panel during the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour on Sunday to promote her new ABC drama, “Ten Days in the Valley.”

At the event, she was asked about a previous episode of PBS’ “Finding Your Roots” that revealed that she and husband Bacon are distant cousins. The couple, who tied the knot in 1988, have two adult children together.

“I figured I was going to be related to Kevin Bacon — I mean, most white people are related, ultimately,” the “Closer” alum said with a laugh.

“I wasn’t surprised, honestly,” she continued. “Frankly, I figured that was part the reason that they wanted to do both of us. I had to act surprised.”

During a TCA session last month, Larry David said he was “very happy” to learn on “Finding Your Roots” that he is related to Bernie Sanders, the Vermont Senator and former presidential candidate whom he impersonated on “Saturday Night Live.”

“Ten Days in the Valley” premieres Sunday, Oct. 1, 10|9c on ABC.
