See Kyle Chandler Reprise His 'Friday Night Lights' Role for a Movie Theater PSA

It was nice seeing Kyle Chandler pick up an Emmy nomination this month for his new role on Netflix’s Bloodline, but let’s be honest: He’ll always be Coach Taylor to us. And our hearts just got extra-full, because Chandler is stepping back into his iconic Friday Night Lights role for a no-talking PSA for movie theater chain Alamo Drafthouse.

In the clip (posted above), Chandler is decked out in Dillon Panther blue, delivering another one of his patented inspirational pre-game speeches. (Notice “State” scrawled on the dry-erase board behind him. It’s always all about State!) But his stirring oratory falls on deaf ears: He’s addressing a room full of rude movie patrons who are too busy texting and taking selfies to listen.

Coach bellows at them: “How am I supposed to give my inspirational speech here if you’re talking and texting?” But even his trademark “Clear eyes, full hearts…” catchphrase doesn’t get through to them. Finally, he turns to the camera, seething, and orders everyone to “turn your goddamn cellphones off!” Message received, Coach.

And a bonus treat for FNL fans: The PSA even boasts a majestic instrumental score by FNL musicians Explosions in the Sky. It’s not the Friday Night Lights reunion movie we’re still waiting to see… but we’ll take it.
