Kobe Bryant’s Poetry Slam Dunk on ‘Family Matters’ Character Steve Urkel

Kobe Bryant stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, but before he sat down for the interview, Kobe delivered a poetry slam dunk about Steve Urkel from Family Matters. Kobe’s spoken words focused on the classic episode when Steve found his “cool” gene and turned himself into his suave alter ego, Stefan.

Kobe, wearing a black turtleneck and standing in front of a black background, delivered lines such as “Transformation. Urkel to Urquelle. Suspenders to lapels,” and “So puny and weak, a metamorphosis from geek to fleek.” The future NBA Hall of Famer even uttered a few of Urkel’s famous lines, like, “Got any cheese?”

Kobe ended his poetry slam by saying, “As one man retracts and fades to black, the other appears in a place he was at. Face in a mask, he doesn’t react. Just looks in a mirror, a stranger staring back and asks, ‘Did I do that?'”

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on NBC. Watch clips and full episodes of The Tonight Show for free on Yahoo View.
