Nothing fake about this — Kim Kardashian is suing MediaTakeOut for reporting that she might have staged her recent robbery in Paris.
The reality TV star slapped the website with a libel lawsuit on Tuesday, claiming that the site published reports “fraught with unsupported allegations” under “patently false and misleading headlines.”
“Defendants’ reckless and malicious publication of the articles was calculated to cause maximum harm to Kardashian,” the lawsuit, filed in federal court in New York, reads. “Defendants’ publication of the articles could not be more reckless or malicious in light of the actual facts.”
According to the suit, one of the articles suggested that Kardashian committed a “federal crime” by engaging in insurance fraud. The suit goes on to state that the site ignored Kardashian’s demand to publish a retraction.
The suit goes on to state that MediaTakeOut had “no legitimate basis” for questioning the account of the robbery, and had “no credible sources” for their stories.
According to reports, Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in her rented apartment in Paris on Oct. 3, with thieves stealing millions of dollars in goods from Kardashian, including jewelry.
MediaTakeOut has not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.
As a result of the reports, the lawsuit claims, Kardashian has suffered damage to her reputation and standing in the community, along with “shame, mortification, hurt feelings, embarrassment and humiliation.”
Kardashian is seeking unspecified damages.
