Kim Kardashian OK After Being Held at Gunpoint in Paris

The Hollywood Reporter

Kim Kardashian is OK after being held at gunpoint in the early hours of Monday in Paris.

The reality TV star's rep says she was held up in a luxury residence while in the city attending Fashion Week shows.

"Kim Kardashian West was held up at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room this evening by two armed, masked men dressed as police officers. She is badly shaken but physically unharmed," her rep told The Hollywood Reporter.

Paris police reported that the incident took place between 2:30 and 3 a.m. local time (5:30 and 6 p.m. PT) at a private home in Paris' swanky 8th district, close to the famed Rue St. Honore shopping street and the Elysee Palace.

Five men dressed as police officers allegedly attacked the star, tying her up in her bathroom and stealing jewelry worth up to €10 million ($11 million). Local authorities reported that a box containing €6 million worth of jewelry and a €4 million ring were among the items taken.

"The loss amounts to several million euros, mostly jewelry. The total amount is still being evaluated," police said.

The five men allegedly entered the residence after threatening a security guard at gunpoint and tying him up in a stairwell. The group then entered Kardashian's room and threatened the reality star with the weapon and locked her in the bathroom.

Police are now guarding the residence, near the Madeleine church in the 8th arrondissement, where Kardashian previously stayed in 2014.

The robbery came just hours after Kardashian attended the Givenchy show by Riccardo Tisci, the close friend who designed the gown for her wedding to West. Kardashian attended the show with sisters Kendall Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian and their mother, Kris Jenner.

The robbery came despite intense security around Paris Fashion Week events, with France's tough CRS riot police and gendarmerie soldiers stationed around show venues.

It was all anyone could talk about Monday morning at the Stella McCartney show at the Paris Opera.

"I am suspicious because I don't think anything in her life happens that she hasn't orchestrated. Where was the TV crew?" says one fashion editor. "It sounds from the story like they had planned it. So why wouldn't they go when she just Instagrammed herself at the Givenchy show? But I'm glad she's OK."

Most of the fashion folk were sympathetic. "It's just scary, said one magazine editor. "Where was her security?"

Others were surprised by the Twitter comments on the story. "Someone called her Ryan Lochte," one journalist pointed out. "And saying things like, 'She deserved it?' That's just hateful."

Kardashian, along with her sisters Kendall and Kourtney, were in Paris for the shows.

Kardashian had made headlines on Sunday when she announced on social media that she'd be attending the Balenciaga show without makeup. "Kind of feels good just to not spend all that time," she told her Snapchat followers.

The incident occurred just a few days after celebrity prankster/assaulter Vitalii Sediuk attempted to plant a kiss on Kardashian's derriere, also in Paris. Sediuk slipped past Kardashian's security and appeared to make contact with her; however, her security team quickly intervened, pinning Sediuk to the ground. In an interesting twist, Sediuk actually pulled the same move two years ago at Paris Fashion Week.

Meanwhile, West cut his set short at the Meadows Festival in Queens, N.Y., on Sunday night after learning the news. West was performing "Heartless" when he stopped to announce that due to a family emergency he was ending his set early.

Founders Entertainment, the promoters behind Meadows Festival, released a statement to Billboard on Sunday night: "Due to a family emergency, Kanye West was forced to end his performance towards the end of his set. We appreciate the great show he put on for fans to close out the inaugural Meadows Festival. Our thoughts are with West and his family."

Kim has been accompanying Kanye for much of his Saint Pablo tour. In last week's Billboard cover story, she opened up about how she spent the first couple of nights on the tour moving around the arena to experience it from different vantage points, including going into the "pit" - the general admission floor, which often turns into a roiling mosh zone underneath Kanye's floating stage. "Everyone was grabbing my ass," she said, sounding amused but vaguely scandalized. "I was like, 'I have to get out of here.'"
