Kerry Washington Thinks Trump Administration Makes ‘Scandal’ Look Like...

Kerry Washington and Alec Baldwin were talking politics on The Late Late Show With James Corden, when James asked Kerry about her character, Olivia Pope, on Scandal. James wondered what Olivia Pope would do to help the Trump administration, and Kerry jokingly responded, “I always feel weird when people say that ’cause I feel like we kinda got into this situation ’cause we thought a fictional character on TV could fix things.”

Kerry went on to suggest that it’s going to take more than just one person to fix things, saying that “it’s up to us because that’s what democracy means. It’s not up to Olivia Pope, you have to fix it. … We have to all fix it.”

Speaking of fixing it, Alec Baldwin’s Trump impression has made a lot of people think that he’s fixing things. Talking about the people who come up to him, Alec said, “They always say, ‘Thank you,’ like they think I’m having an effect on the political field of gravity.” Alec then joked, “And I’ll be on the phone and I’ll be like, ‘I’m on with my cardiologist.'”

The Late Late Show With James Corden airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. on CBS.
