Kelly Ripa Updates ‘Live’ Fans on Co-Host Search: ‘We Really Didn’t Set a Time Frame’

Kelly Ripa gave fans the latest update on the search for a permanent co-host for “Live With Kelly” on Wednesday, and it doesn’t sound like the rotating cast of famous faces will be ending any time soon.

“We really didn’t set a time frame for ourselves,” Ripa said on “Watch What Happens Live.” “We just wanted to wait until we found the right person. What we didn’t anticipate was that we would have such an outpouring of interest, so our list got very long very quickly. We’ve been trying to keep it as narrow as possible, but then people pop up.”

Ripa went on to say that she has enjoyed having a variety of people join her in hosting the morning show. “We’ve had a great time. I have to say, I feel really lucky and really embarrassed at our good fortune,” she said. “It’s a fun job to begin with.”

Ripa is still looking for her permanent replacement for Michael Strahan‘s seat, which was vacated by the former NFL defensive end back in the spring. The ex-New York Giants great bailed on the late-morning chat program for the greener pastures (and earlier call times) of ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

Since then, Ripa has tried out roughly 40 co-hosts. Not all of them are pining for the permanent gig of course, but TheWrap has each of their Nielsen TV ratings results ranked here for readers.
