Kelly Ripa Has a Book Beef With Stephen Colbert

Kelly Ripa had a bone to pick with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday’s The Late Show. Ripa brought out Colbert’s children’s book I Am a Pole (And So Can You!). Colbert said, “It’s about the adventures of a pole that doesn’t know what kind of pole it is.”

Ripa explained that it was one of her son’s favorite books, so he took it to school to have his teacher read it to the class. Ripa read a passage:

There’s always a fireman or fishing, but those are hard to find.
So I interned as a stripper pole, but I couldn’t stand the grind.

Apparently, that’s when the teacher stopped reading and starting writing a note home to Kelly Ripa, saying, “At a certain point, certain things aren’t appropriate for 9-year-olds.”

Thankfully, Ripa wasn’t upset, because at least she got to be “that mom” in her child’s class.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
