Keegan-Michael Key reveals embarrassing job he had prior to being famous

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Keegan-Michael Key played “True Confessions” with Fallon and Leslie Jones, who had to figure out if Key was lying or telling the truth. When Key confessed, “I got paid to dress as a caveman for a singing-telegram company,” the two couldn’t help but laugh at the idea of Key in a caveman suit.

When Key got into character to throw the two off the trail, he took a sip of the “coffee” on the table and discovered that it was actually just colored water. “What is that?” he asked. Fallon said, “I don’t know what that is. It’s colored water. It’s all prop. Don’t drink that, and that’s not a real cigarette.”

But when Fallon asked if his caveman had a name, his answer was probably the key bit of information that Jones needed. “Ba-mook-ook,” Key said. “That sounds so racist,” replied Jones.

When it came time to confess, Jones and Fallon could read Key like a book. They both guessed that the then-struggling actor would very likely have worked for a singing-telegram company. “Yeah. Well, the both of you are absolutely correct,” said Key.
