Kathie Lee Gifford on How Hoda Kotb Was There For Her After Frank Gifford Passed Away

Dr. Oz welcomed Kathie Lee Gifford to his show on Friday. The two discussed Gifford’s longtime Today colleague, Hoda Kotb. Gifford and Kotb have hosted the fourth hour of NBC’s morning talk show since 2008, and have become close friends along the way.

Gifford told Oz how she leaned on Kotb after her husband, Frank Gifford, passed away in 2015. “After Frank went to be with the Lord, one of the first people I called was Hoda,” Gifford recounted. “It was her birthday. And she was on a plane, flying from New Orleans, and I didn’t want her to land and hear it from someplace else.”
“And Hoda immediately says, ‘I’m landing and I’m coming to your house,’” Gifford continued. “I said, ‘No you’re not, Hoda, please. Please.’ It’s her birthday. ‘Absolutely not, Hoda-woman.’ The minute she landed, she went straight to my house. And I turned around and there she is. I said, ‘I’m so glad you didn’t do what I told you to do.’ She’s so dear.”
