Julie Chen Addresses ‘Rumors and Speculation’ About Sharon Osbourne’s Marriage
On The Talk Monday, host Julie Chen wasted no time addressing the story that broke over the weekend about her co-host Sharon Osbourne.
Multiple outlets reported that Osbourne’s 33-year marriage to Ozzy Osbourne is ending, citing a spokesman for the couple who said, “At this time, Ozzy is not at the marital home.”
A somber and serious Chen jumped right in to the reports at the top of the show.
“There were many tabloid headlines this past weekend about her and Ozzy,” Chen said of her co-host. “Rumors and speculation that they have split up after nearly 34 years of marriage. Sharon understandably took today off. We are sending all of our love to her and her family, and we ask that you do the same.”
Chen’s words were met with applause before she quickly moved on to other topics.
Similar headlines arose in 2013 when Sharon emphatically denied divorce rumors during a taping of The Talk but confirmed Ozzy’s sobriety struggles at the time. ET is reporting that Ozzy’s sobriety is not the reason for this split, saying he has remained sober since 2013.
The 67-year-old rocker and 63-year-old talk show host have three children together.
