‘Josh Gates: After Dark’ First Look: Josh Dives Into Dubai’s Massive Aquarium

Where else would a recreation of the lost city of Atlantis be except for Dubai?

The ultraluxe city in the United Arab Emirates boasts sky-high towers, glittering hotels, and one of the largest saltwater aquariums in the world. And adventurer Josh Gates (Expedition Unknown) is exploring the wild side of Dubai in the new Travel Channel special Josh Gates: After Dark.

In this exclusive sneak peek, Gates straps on scuba gear to dive into the aquarium and is “instantly transported to another world.” That world is populated with schools of gleaming fish — over 65,000 of them, to be exact. “There are even mysterious ruins down here, modeled after, what else, the lost city of Atlantis,” Gates notes.

The aquarium is built next to a restaurant, where diners can observe the underwater kingdom — and divers like Gates can “bother” people as they’re eating. “Sir, save some wine for me!”

Josh Gates: After Dark airs Wednesday, March 1, at 11 p.m. on the Travel Channel.
