JonBenét Ramsey’s Older Brother, Burke, Talks to Dr. Phil

Nearly 20 years after JonBenét Ramsey was found slain in the basement of her family’s home in Boulder, Colo., older brother, Burke, is speaking publicly for the first time. In a preview clip of Monday’s Dr. Phil, Ramsey spoke about what life was like after his sister’s slaying and why he decided to finally give an interview. Much of the fault for the long wait rests on the media and the effect the media had on his family’s everyday life, according to Ramsey.

Of the media circus that surrounded his family after the killing, Ramsey said: “For a long time, the media basically made our lives crazy. It’s hard to miss the cameras and news trucks in your front yard. We’d go to the supermarket sometimes and there’d be a tabloid with my picture, JonBenét’s picture, on the front.”

He said that being under that kind of scrutiny made him skeptical of the media and made him a very private person.

As for why it took him so long to speak publicly about the case, he said: “It’s the 20-year anniversary and there’s apparently a lot of attention around it.”
