Jon Stewart Begs Media to Break Up With Donald Trump

Jon Stewart stopped by The Late Show on Monday, emerging from underneath Stephen Colbert’s desk to talk about how Donald Trump is basically the rude, unbelievable boyfriend you can’t wait for your best friend to break up with. Stewart went on to explain that it’s not just facts that show Trump is a liar — it’s also how he says, “Believe me,” after pretty much everything he says.

Though the press may have been surprised when Trump said the murder rate is the highest it’s ever been (because that’s completely untrue), maybe it was even more surprised when White House press secretary Sean Spicer banned several major news sources from an informal press briefing on Friday, making Stewart wonder, did Trump break up with the media, and does it need a shoulder to cry on? After Stewart rallied the press to just be fierce and fabulous, post-breakup, he basically took the media through all the stages of grief and also offered some idea of distraction. Maybe journalism?
