Jon Snow Lives (Maybe) in HBO's First Promo for 'Game of Thrones' Season 6

Hold up, did HBO just confirm what we’ve hoped for all along? That despite the ominous last shot of Season 5 of Game of Thrones, Jon Snow is very much alive, though not necessarily well?

In a series of ads teasing the April return of HBO’s biggest show, Jon Snow is seen, bloodied, from the eyes down. He looks to be standing, though there is the possibility that this shot is intended to depict Snow’s corpse. (But we prefer to stay positive.)

In the Season 5 finale, Snow, played by Kit Harrington, was betrayed by the members of the Night’s Watch and stabbed to death. However, almost none of the show’s millions of viewers really believed it was the end for Snow. That’s thanks in large part to a fan theory which posits that Snow has a very large part to play in the show’s endgame, which is who will rule over Westeros’s Iron Throne.

Harrington, 28, has stoked a lot of speculation that Snow will be back, in September telling the Belgian magazine Humo, “Let’s just say Game of Thrones will remain a part of my life for a while; when it’s over, I’ll probably be already in my thirties.” He was also seen on GoT’s Belfast set that month.

At a recent GoT panel at New York Comic Con, the actors remained tight lipped about the fate of one Jon Snow. Though Finn Jones, who plays Ser Loras Tyrell, did say, “[Jon’s] dead, so you couldn’t possibly work with him anymore.” Then again, as we’ve seen on this show before, dead does not necessarily mean gone.
