Jon Gosselin is not destitute. Jon and Kate Plus 8 viewers were shocked when the former reality TV dad resurfaced this week via Entertainment Tonight -- revealing that he currently lives in a cabin, waits tables at Black Dog restaurant in Beckersville, Pa. and that he does not pay child support to ex-wife wife Kate Gosselin. Jon, 36, added that has "no relationship" with Kate, 38, to whom he was married for 10 years.
"Jon is not struggling financially," a source close to the former TLC star clarifies to Us Weekly. "Everyone is struggling right now -- he's not a millionaire waiting tables - but he is making ends meet."
The source explains that Gosselin, an IT professional, took the waiter job through pals who own the eatery. "It just worked out that he needed a job and they needed someone. It's flexible with his custody agreement," the insider adds. "He is looking for a [full-time] IT job -- he's not going to sit around and wait unemployed."
He sees twins Cara and Mady, 12, and 9-year-old sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel on pre-arranged weekends and select weeknights. "The kids know what he does for a living," the insider says. "They don't really care either way and Jon is not ashamed of it. They're fine with it."
"The kids are all doing great," continues the source. "They're growing up so fast!"
One thing Jon doesn't see in his future: a full-time TV gig. "He wants to get a normal job and live a regular life."
After his high-profile split from Kate, Jon famously cavorted with other women -- even hitting a yacht with one of his young girlfriends
"That was out of character for him," the source says.
