John Oliver Takes on America’s Patent System
Patents are a necessity in today’s technological age, but on Last Week Tonight, John Oliver pointed out how broken the current patent system is. "Most of these companies don’t make anything. They just shake down anyone who does," commented John. He then pointed out how companies are willing to go to great lengths to influence patent lawsuits, joking about how Samsung built an ice skating rink in front of a Texas courthouse to appeal to jurors; "Do you know how hard that is to maintain? That’s like building a bowling alley in space."
