John Oliver Concocts Insane Cadbury Creme Egg Conspiracy Theory
Last Week Tonight took a break for Easter but not without leaving us with something to think about. John Oliver tackled the ever-growing genre of YouTube conspiracy videos in a Web exclusive. These videos try to explain everything from why Katy Perry is JonBenet Ramsey to why Jay Z is a time-traveling vampire. Oliver made a conspiracy video of his own and decided to tackle something far more sinister: Cadbury Creme Eggs.
“Every year these eggs show up in January like newly signed gym memberships or movies theaters full of films that will never win Oscars,” Oliver muses. “But why? Why does this happen? That’s the question, and the reason is simple if you just follow the money.” Oliver goes on to draw parallels between Creme Eggs and the movie Miracle on 34th Street as well as the European gold trade. He circles back to point to a larger entity that may be behind it all: the Illuminati.
