John Oliver Compares Clinton and Trump Scandals
On Sunday’s Last Week Tonight, John Oliver weighed the scandals of the presidential nominees and the results were striking.
Regarding Hillary Clinton’s email server, he said, “While the FBI found Clinton and her staff to be extremely careless, they said they couldn’t find a case that would support bringing criminal charges. So it’s not good, but it’s not as bad as it looks. Which is never a satisfying thing to hear or, indeed, read above the buffet at a Golden Corral.”
He then turned his attention to Donald Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns, citing a current audit. “The IRS has explicitly said you don’t need to wait for a completed audit to release them. You’re just saying two unrelated things: I’d love to pick you up from the airport, but I can’t because a blue whale’s tongue weighs as much as an elephant.”
He then explained, “Ethical failings in a politician are like raisins in a cookie. They shouldn’t be there. They disgust people.” He held up a cookie with a handful of raisins in it. He said, “And Hillary is a cookie like this one. She arguably has more raisins than average. There’s probably 10 of those little f***ers in there.”
As for Trump’s amount of unethical raisins? “This is the amount of raisins that he represents. A f***ing raisin monsoon. He is ethically compromised to an almost unprecedented degree.”
A deluge of raisins fell on Oliver’s head as he ended the show.
