John Oliver Begs Donald Trump to Resign From Presidential Race

On the season finale of Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, the host publicly addressed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and begged him to drop out of the 2016 presidential race. Oliver said, “Drop out and tell America this entire thing was a stunt, a satire to expose the flaws in the system.”

He then went on to explain to the billionaire tycoon the everyday sacrifices that come with being the president. For example, living in government housing, conversing with fully clothed women, and traveling in planes that don’t have “Trump” emblazoned on them. Oliver’s plan for Trump’s resignation followed with an instruction manual in the form of the children’s book The Kid Who Ran for President, written by Dan Gutman.

The story is about 12-year-old Judson Moon, a charismatic class clown who ran for president as a joke. Oliver boldly challenged Donald Trump to stop by his studio, appear on the show, and resign from the race.

Last Week Tonight airs Sundays at 11 p.m. on HBO.
