Jimmy Kimmel Will Be Kelly Ripa's First Live Co-Host After Michael Strahan

ABC on Tuesday announced that Jimmy Kimmel will co-host Live on May 16; Strahan’s final episode opposite Kelly Ripa will be May 13.

Kimmel will be the first in a series of revolving co-hosts invited to join Ripa as the Powers That Be continue their search for a permanent partner. Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos, as well as pals Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper, have been bandied about as possible replacements — though TVLine’s Michael Slezak suggests that Ripa look to someone outside her comfort zone.

As you’re all well aware, Strahan’s sudden departure from Live for a new gig at Good Morning America has created some awkward tension on the talk show’s set. Ripa was so taken aback by the short-notice news that she took several days off to collect her thoughts. Upon her return, she delivered a dramatic monologue about the importance of communication in the workplace.
