Jimmy Fallon and Jack Black Recreate Classic '90s Music Video

We don’t have the words to express how awesome it was to see Jack Black and Jimmy Fallon recreate a classic work of ‘90s music-video art on The Tonight Show. Appearing on Fallon’s late night chat show to hype his new film, The D Train, funnyman and established rocker Black (who has his own musical career with the metal duo Tenacious D) played along with the gag that he and Fallon had recorded a power ballad music video two decades ago. Cut to an expert recreation of Extreme’s stripped-down “More Than Words” video from 1990, complete with black-and-white cinematography, acoustic guitars, and long, long, flowing early-‘90s hair. The whole thing was pitch perfect — except, perhaps, for Black’s penchant for pulling goofy faces while singing. Because, you know, Extreme’s “More Than Words” was never goofy. Not on purpose, anyway.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
