Jeff Probst Looks Back at His Embarrassing ‘Survivor’ Demo Reel on ‘The Tonight Show’

Jeff Probst took a trip back in time on The Tonight Show when host Jimmy Fallon showed the embarrassing demo reel Probst used to get the job hosting Survivor. Of course, Probst wasn’t aware Fallon had the tape. In the reel, Probst can be seen as a spokesperson, a commercial actor, and an all-around cool guy with an awesome mullet.

Before Fallon broke out the video, Probst was saying he almost didn’t get the gig. Survivor executive producer Mark Burnett wasn’t impressed with the reel, so Probst did what he had to do: He lied. Probst told Burnett he was an adventurer, apparently saying he got his dimples from spending time with Mother Nature. How that makes sense remains a mystery, but it worked. And Probst has now been the fearless host of Survivor for 33 seasons and counting.
