Jason Bateman Deals With Daughter Questioning Santa Claus

Jason Bateman recently ran into the issue many parents deal with as their children get older: explaining Santa’s magic. It’s difficult for most people to comprehend how Santa Claus accomplishes many of his other-worldly feats every Christmas. As kids get older, their blind faith of Santa starts to give way to their desire to learn how things work. How does Santa get to everyone’s house in one night? How does he fit down the chimney? If there’s no chimney, how does Santa get in the house? Jason finally had to come up with some answers.

Jason’s oldest daughter was having a difficult time understanding how Santa and his “bowl full of jelly” could fit down their chimney. Jason tried explaining it to her, but her questions were finally answered one year when Santa left a bicycle present outside of the house. Jason explained to his daughter that it was left there because it didn’t fit down the chimney. For whatever reason, it made sense that, “He couldn’t bring a bike down there, but old greasy Santa could slide down there!”
