James Corden wants to be Floyd Mayweather’s 'hype man' at upcoming McGregor fight

On The Late Late Show, James Corden wanted to prove to Floyd Mayweather that he has what it takes to be part of his entourage.

In the past, Mayweather has been accompanied by big celebrities like Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, and Justin Bieber as he entered the ring. So, Corden thought that because Mayweather’s upcoming fight against Conor McGregor is the boxing champ’s biggest fight ever, he needed the biggest hype man ever. Of course, Corden was referring to himself. However, Mayweather was pretty skeptical and turned the host down. But Corden stated to himself, “We’ll see about that.”

Plan A

As Mayweather was exiting the stage, Corden jumped out, with his best Michael Buffer impersonation, shouting, “Universally recognized as the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter, it’s Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweatherrrrrrrr!” as he made it rain Monopoly money. Unfortunately, Mayweather was not impressed.

Plan B

Corden’s next attempt was to serenade Mayweather with Adele’s “Hello,” but Mayweather was still not buying it.

Plan … C?

Maybe he’s not an Adele fan? Corden tried to hit him with some nostalgia, with “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” by Backstreet Boys. But since that didn’t work either, Corden’s last attempt was ditching the music altogether and trying to to protect him from a young fan.

In the end, Corden never proved he’s worthy. We’ll just have to wait until Aug. 26 to, we hope, be surprised.

The Late Late Show With James Corden airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. on CBS.
