James Corden Takes On Trump’s Trans Military Ban With L-O-V-E
The Late Late Show with James Corden opened with a parody musical number that took on President Trump’s tweeted ban on trans people serving in the military. Corden gave a classic Hollywood rendition of Nat King Cole’s “L-O-V-E,” explaining the meaning of the term LGBT to Trump.
He sang, “L, he doesn’t care for lesbians. G, he thinks two men should just be friends. B, to his dumb knowledge, is just a phase in college. T, he finds confusing so the Army’s now refusing.”
Along with dancers and a jazz band, Corden refuted Trump’s claims in his tweets that transgender service members’ health care costs are a burden, and that their service is a disruption.
He sang, “How is their disruption worse than Tump’s corruption? Why’s it such a crisis? Thousands willing to fight ISIS.”
Corden finished his song and dance number with, “Trans vets might be nervous, but we thank you for your service. We have love for all of you.”
