James Corden Reveals Audition Tape for ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’

On The Late Late Show, James Corden showed footage from an audition he claims he did for Renée Zellweger for her latest movie, Bridget Jones’s Baby.

In the sketch, Corden meets up with Zellweger and a casting director. He’s up for the leading man role, and on his first attempt, Corden channels Bridget Jones’s former leading man. “Well, if we wanted Hugh Grant again, we would have cast him,” the casting director replied.

After his second attempt — Downton Abbey style — Zellweger asks Corden to act as a normal British man, which he takes to mean Dick Van Dyke’s character in Mary Poppins. Then making several more costume changes, Corden takes on personas of Austin Powers, and Gandalf from Lord of the Rings.

At the end of the sketch, Patrick Dempsey interrupts the audition to save the day.

The Late Late Show airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m./11:37 p.m. CT on CBS.
