iPhone 6 Production Just Weeks Away (Report)

Does a cheap 8GB iPhone 5c not get your juices flowing? It looks like there's something more exciting just around the corner: the iPhone 6.

Taiwanese manufacturer Pegatron is reportedly recruiting workers and opening more factory space to meet demand for iPhone 6 orders, with production slated to start in the second quarter. That's just a few weeks away.

The latest news comes from Reuters, which translated a report by the Commercial Times of China. The paper also noted that Hon Hai Precision Industry (also known as Foxconn) is the other primary manufacturer of the iPhone 6.

Demand is expected to be quite high for Apple's new flagship. In fact, one Citigroup analyst says that Apple has placed a whopping order of 90 million units for launch.

The iPhone 6 is rumored to feature a larger display, a fast new A8 processor with quad-core graphics and a more advanced 10-MP camera. And with a new Healthbook app on board, Apple will likely place a heavy emphasis on fitness.

As for availability, many expect the iPhone 6 to arrive this fall, similar to the iPhone 5s last year. But with production starting sooner than some expected, it's possible the device could hit store shelves this summer.
