In Memoriam: TV Characters We Lost in 2016

There is more television than ever now, and that means all of us who are lucky enough to watch some of it are getting introduced to all sorts of interesting and memorable characters. Sadly, this also means we’re saying goodbye to the guys and gals of our favorite programs more than ever.

Looking back at 2016, shows were scarily efficient at killing off swaths of characters. You only ha to look at Game of Thrones, which in a matter of just a few episodes killed Margaery and Loras Tyrell, Tommen Baratheon, the High Sparrow, Grand Maester Pycelle, Roose and Ramsay Bolton, Rickon Stark, and of course our beloved Hodor.

While it couldn’t quite match the approximately 37 deaths Game of Thrones featured in its sixth season, The Walking Dead also managed to kill quite off a few characters over the course of the year. Jessie and her two sons, the Monroes, Abraham, and Glenn were just a handful those to die in gruesome fashion.

Other shows followed in kind. Scandal, The Originals, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Person of Interest, and Sleepy Hollow all managed to have memorable characters axed. So get settled and get ready for a possibly too-long “In Memoriam” celebrating those we’re leaving behind as we journey into 2017.
