How ‘Planet Earth II’ Captured A Daring Lizard Escape
Yeah, but let’s see that little lizard escape climate change. The BBC has released the first episode of Planet Earth II, a follow-up to the wildly popular nature documentary series presented by Sir Richard Attenborough.
“Islands” opened the series to rave reviews and over 9 million viewers due in part to this baby marine iguana escaping a pit of snakes. The clip has been shared across the world, garnering over one million views in two days, and the BBC has responded with this behind the scenes look at how this wonder of nature was captured. The docuseries was shot on new technology, including drone cameras and ultra high definition cameras, which were not available when the original Planet Earth was produced.
The second episode, “Mountains,” premieres on Sunday, November 13th on the BBC One, and the series will be rebroadcast on BBC America beginning January 28, 2017.
