Hallmark's 'Anything For Love' Plays a Different Game

Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Valentine’s Day concludes this weekend with the premieres of new original movies Valentine Ever After (Saturday at 9 p.m.) and Anything for Love (Sunday at 9 p.m.).

While Valentine Ever After follows the traditional Hallmark model — a city girl (Autumn Reeser) travels to a dude ranch in Wyoming for a fun girls’ getaway and ends up staying in the country longer than expected — Anything for Love shakes it up a bit. It stars Parenthood’s Erika Christensen as high-powered CEO Katherine, whose executive assistant suggests she pose as her on a dating website so she can attract a man who’s neither threatened by her success nor power-hungry. She’s matched with male nurse Jack (Paul Greene), who doesn’t realize his friend changed his occupation to “medical doctor” to make him more desirable to women. In the exclusive clip above, we see Katherine and her assistant trying to keep up the charade.

While we won’t spoil the ending, we will predict two thoughts you’ll have:

1. Why wasn’t Greene, who’s shirtless in his first scene here, not shirtless in the post-bath scene in A Christmas Detour, the Hallmark holiday movie he just starred in with Candace Cameron Bure, if that’s what he was hiding underneath his robe?

2. Yes, “male nurse” was played for laughs in Meet the Parents, in 2000, but no way it’s this big of a deal-breaker in 2016. The man is employed, he looks good in scrubs, he has a vacation cabin in Wisconsin, and he comes in on his day off to support a teen having heart surgery — he’s a catch.

Hallmark Channel will marathon its 2015 Countdown to Valentine’s Day originals on Feb. 14: Appetite For Love (1 p.m.), Valentine Ever After (3 p.m.), All Things Valentine (5 p.m.), and Dater’s Handbook (7 p.m.) lead into Anything For Love (9 p.m.).
