‘Gotham’ Recap: Theo Galavan Becomes Unstoppable Villain Azrael

Gotham finally released Theo Galavan back into the world — only now he has superhuman abilities and thinks he’s a 12th-century knight named Azrael. After Galavan came back to life, Dr. Hugo Strange noticed he was suffering from a lack of memories, so he gave him some. Strange also said that he was Azrael’s feudal master, which meant he had to obey when told to kill Jim Gordon.

Somewhere between scenes, Azrael was fitted with bulletproof armor, which made him almost impossible to kill. The armor doesn’t seem to hold up against high-caliber projectiles though, so there is a weakness that could theoretically be exploited.

The police captain was also critically injured during the episode when Azrael stabbed him. But that might prove to be a good thing because he now believes what Gordon was saying about Strange.

Gotham airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
