Winter is here! And so is the new season of Game of Thrones! This season started with Lord Frey seemingly toasting “every Frey who means a damn thing.” But it quickly became clear that it was not the loathsome Lord when everyone started choking on poisoned wine. Once all of them were dead on the floor, “Lord Frey” reached up and pulled off the mask, revealing that it was Arya Stark. Arya then leaned over to Frey’s young wife and told her, “When people ask you what happened here, tell them the North remembers. Tell them winter came for House Frey.”
After Arya got revenge for the “Red Wedding” with the “Red Wine Massacre” (that’s what we’re calling it), the Lannisters needed some new allies. Enter Euron Greyjoy, who sailed to King’s Landing with a proposal and a sick burn. Euron told Cersei, “Ever since I was a little boy, I wanted to grow up and marry the most beautiful woman in the world. So here I am, with a thousand ships and two good hands.” Jamie, who was standing right there, did not appreciate the “hands” comment. Cersei denied Euron’s proposal, and he vowed to return with a “priceless” gift for her.
Speaking of sick burns, the Hound took a good look into the fire and saw the Army of the Dead marching south of the wall. And he wasn’t the only one with visions of White Walkers marching. Before Bran made it to the Wall, he saw the most terrifying image yet — White Walker Giants!
Luckily, Sam found a mountain of Dragon Glass while researching at Oldtown, where he also found Jorah Mormont. As Sam was cleaning out some pots, Jorah’s Greyscale arm reached out from a cell as he asked if the Dragon Queen had arrived yet. Sam had not heard anything, but that was because Daenerys was just arriving at Dragonstone. Daenerys took a stroll around her old family castle, which was previously rented out by Stannis, as the episode ended with a beginning. For the second time, Daenerys asked Tyrian, “Shall we begin?” as it cut to black and credits rolled.
